Job Description

Overview

SSM Health is seeking a part-time Respiratory Care Practitioner to join its Respiratory Care Team at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The role involves administering respiratory therapeutic services and monitoring patient care in a night shift schedule with a generous sign-on bonus available for qualified external candidates.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate treatment types and frequencies.
  • Develop and implement care plans based on diagnosis.
  • Administer prescribed respiratory care services according to physician's orders.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
  • Provide education to patients and families about health conditions and available community support.
  • Assist with equipment care, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses.
  • Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels.

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience in ICU and Nursery is preferred
