Job Description

Overview

The Resource Specialist Teacher at Soleil Academy is responsible for serving students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the guidance of the Special Education Coordinator. This role emphasizes providing individualized instruction, assessment, and collaboration to support diverse learning needs in a structured educational environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress
  • Provide direct instruction to students, both individually and in small groups
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to provide needed accommodations
  • Engage parents and families as advocates for their child's educational needs
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of service delivery and student progress
  • Implement behavior intervention strategies and support plans
  • Advocate for students with disabilities in the school community
  • Support case management and lead IEP meetings

Required skills

  • Valid Mild to Moderate California Education Specialist credential
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Proficiency in conducting assessments and analyzing data
  • Knowledge of special education laws and best practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Experience in an urban school setting
  • Understanding of SEIS and IEP management systems
