Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health Systems is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care in critical care areas, focusing on patient medication administration, assessment, and education. This role emphasizes independent decision-making and collaboration within a healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers aerosolized medication and performs bronchial hygiene
  • Manages ventilators and executes airway management
  • Conducts patient assessments and collaborates with healthcare team members
  • Educates patients and supports staff development
  • Maintains accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
  • Precepts new employees and mentors students

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
  • 0-2 years clinical experience, preferably with critical care
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to establish working relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Proficiency in computer skills and database management
