Overview

Takeda Pharmaceutical is looking for a Senior Scientific Director to lead the Hit Identification and Sample Management function in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This role focuses on enhancing high-throughput screening and sample management capabilities, integrating AI and lab automation, and ensuring operational excellence across various therapeutic areas.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve capabilities in high-throughput screening and sample management.
  • Oversee screening strategies for small molecules, ensuring robust assay execution and hit identification.
  • Drive scientific excellence in screening principles, statistics, and assay performance metrics.
  • Champion integration of AI and computational approaches for hit selection and data analysis.
  • Direct operation and continuous improvement of automated storage systems and workflows.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for HTS and sample management aligned with portfolio priorities.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated hit discovery solutions.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a large organization of scientists and operational staff.

Required skills

  • PhD with 15+ years or MS with 21+ years or BS with 23+ years of relevant experience
  • Significant industry experience in high-throughput screening and sample management
  • Experience managing libraries greater than 1 million samples
  • Strong knowledge of screening statistics, data quality metrics, and quantitative analysis methods
  • Hands-on and strategic expertise in HTS and assay execution
  • Experience operating large integrated automated storage systems
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to build capabilities
  • Experience with DNA-Encoded Libraries (DEL) preferred
