Job Description

Overview

As a Research Scientist specializing in Robot Perception at GE Vernova, you will contribute to advancing robotic technology in the industrial domain, focusing on applications that support the Energy Transition. You will work within a collaborative research team to tackle challenging problems in robot perception, scene understanding, and object manipulation, while engaging with various GE business units and external partners in academia and government.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with teams of researchers on new and continuing projects
  • Develop robotic perception modules for industrial manipulators
  • Combine state-of-the-art open-source models and in-house data to enhance robot capabilities
  • Write high-quality Python/C/C++ code in a large shared codebase
  • Implement and analyze prototypes and solutions for real-world problems
  • Create intellectual property and file patents
  • Publish research findings to scientific journals and conferences
  • Support writing and/or grant proposals

Required skills

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields focused on robotics or
  • MS + 2 years' work experience in similar areas
  • Strong background in Computer Vision/Computer Graphics research
  • Track record of published peer-reviewed research
  • Proficiency in Python programming and popular machine learning frameworks
  • Hands-on robotics experience with manipulators or quadrupeds
  • Practical knowledge of 3D geometry and camera models
