Job Description

Overview

The Research Financial Analyst will manage and analyze financial data for clinical research units in Evanston, IL. This role includes reviewing expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and sponsor policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Review all expenditures and FTE distributions on research accounts to ensure compliance
  • Prepare summary reports of project financial data for review by CRU leads and PIs
  • Identify and resolve problems with incorrectly posted expenses
  • Collaborate with PI and CRU teams on sponsored project tasks
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance tracking and long-term financial planning
  • Assist leadership in preparing and delivering financial reports and presentations
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and sponsor policies
  • Develop SOPs and workflows as needed

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in post-award management/research finance in healthcare or academic settings
  • Strong finance, accounting, and reporting/analytics skills
  • Proficiency in database and spreadsheet applications
  • Experience with Workday Finance or Workday Grants
  • Knowledge of NIH Grants Policy Statements and OMB Circular A-133
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with online sponsor submission systems like NIH ASSIST and Grants.gov
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
