Overview

GE Vernova is seeking a Power Electronics Research Engineer to join their R&D organization in Niskayuna, New York. The role involves the development and testing of power electronics concepts, systems modeling, and contributing to innovative technologies for power generation, transmission, and distribution applications.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop new power technologies and capabilities for GE's next generation product platforms
  • Conduct modeling and simulation of power electronics systems
  • Design and test power converters and converter submodules
  • Test and characterize power electronics devices
  • Design EMI filters for converter applications
  • Prepare written reports and presentations to communicate results
  • Contribute to proposal efforts for GE businesses and government agencies

Required skills

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, or Master's with 2+ years of experience
  • 3+ years conducting power electronics research through model simulation and design
  • 3+ years developing and testing power converters and devices
  • 3+ years developing and testing control solutions for power converters and devices
  • Familiarity with DC grid concepts
  • Familiarity with energy storage and microgrids
