Overview

PacifiCorp is looking for a Relay Technician Trainee in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and formal technical training to develop the skills necessary for advancement to a journeyman-level position focused on the reliable operation of substation protection and control systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend technician training schools to learn relay standards and theory.
  • Assist Relay Technicians with installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of substation equipment.
  • Keep records and files of work performed, outages, and equipment.
  • Participate in diagnostic testing of substation equipment under supervision.
  • Operate substation equipment according to safety protocols.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification in an electrical apprenticeship program
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Internet)
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to follow safety policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills
