Overview

Cargill is seeking a Refrigeration Operator Class B to join their protein and salt business in Ailsa Craig, Ontario. This role involves maintaining refrigeration, steam, and compressed air systems, ensuring proper operation of HVAC systems, and performing maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain refrigeration, steam, and compressed air systems
  • Follow company policies regarding performance and safety
  • Ensure proper operation of plant and office HVAC systems
  • Conduct daily temperature, water filter, and ventilation rounds
  • Complete maintenance PM work orders as assigned
  • Operate manlifts or forklifts
  • Lift and carry heavy items (0 - 20+ kg)
  • Climb ladders and work from heights

Required skills

  • Refrigeration Operator Class B License or 3rd Class Operating Engineer
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration and compressed air systems
  • Knowledge of TSSA standards and good manufacturing practices
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work shifts including day, afternoon, and midnight
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety, and environmental regulations
  • Ability to read blueprints and layout drawings
  • Demonstrated computer skills including data entry and data retrieval
