Job Description

Overview

The Ammonia Refrigeration Operator will work at a new commercial ammonia refrigeration facility in Rahway, NJ. This hands-on position requires an active New Jersey Blue Seal 2-C Toxic Refrigeration license (or higher), and entails ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ammonia (R-717) refrigeration systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and control the ammonia refrigeration system.
  • Maintain safe and efficient operation by monitoring system parameters.
  • Perform startup, shutdown, and emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Respond to ammonia alarms, leaks, and emergency conditions.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs and participate in safety training.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.

Required skills

  • Active New Jersey Blue Seal 2-C Toxic Refrigeration Operator license.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on operating experience with ammonia refrigeration.
  • Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration system components.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and refrigeration flow diagrams.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
