Job Description

Overview

Orica is seeking a Red Seal Mechanic to provide maintenance and repair support for mobile and static explosive pumping equipment at the Gibraltar work site. The role involves regular fleet maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of equipment, requiring travel to other Orica sites within Western Canada.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot all Orica explosive pumping and manufacturing equipment
  • Assist with vehicle audits and regulatory inspections
  • Complete regular fleet maintenance and inspections through the preventative maintenance program
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and mobile major hazard management as required
  • Fault find and repair prime mover explosives delivery unit
  • Participate in confined space training for tank inspections

Required skills

  • Experience in electrical and hydraulic repair and failure diagnosis
  • Experience with Detroit Diesel, Mercedes, CAT power plants
  • Experience with progressive cavity and gear pumps (asset)
  • Inter Provincial Red Seal certificate - Heavy Duty or Truck and Transport
  • Class 1 or Class 3 drivers' license with air (asset)
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permit) (asset)
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft programs
  • Proficiency in SAP work order systems (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work outside in all conditions
  • Capable of working in a heavy equipment environment
