Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Rapid Response Respiratory Therapist for full-time night shifts in New Orleans. In this role, the therapist will provide respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, and diagnostic testing to patients across a range of ages, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures
  • Monitor and wean Oxygen Therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Maintain professional certifications and technical knowledge
  • Document clinical information regarding each patient

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (if applicable)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
