Job Description

Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Rapid Response Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatment and support for both in-patients and out-patients, across all age groups from neonatal to geriatric. The role involves various responsibilities including monitoring Oxygen Therapy, conducting diagnostic testing, and delivering ventilation support services, all in accordance with established policies and physician orders.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services
  • Monitor and manage Oxygen Therapy and ventilation support
  • Perform diagnostic tests including Arterial Blood Gas analysis and EKG monitoring
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Maintain records of clinical information for each patient
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and accreditation standards
  • Attend staff meetings and stay updated on technical procedures

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist credential
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (for NICU work)
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
