Job Description

Overview

The Rail Superintendent at The Middlesex Corporation is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing infrastructure construction and operations activities. This role ensures quality work and adherence to safety standards while maintaining schedules and fostering relationships with clients and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

  • Comply with and promote all safety policies and procedures
  • Organize and plan projects in collaboration with the Project Manager
  • Oversee time sheets for labor and equipment, and prepare daily reports
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members
  • Manage the overall bridge schedule and monitor crew productivity
  • Review cost reports and prepare vendor or subcontractor back charges
  • Enforce quality control and safety policies during construction
  • Conduct daily meetings, stretching exercises, and weekly Tool Box Talks
  • Provide Job Hazard Analysis prior to new work activities
  • Identify extra work or changes in conditions and report to project management

Required skills

  • B.S. in Civil/Transportation Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy civil track/rail construction
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Knowledge of ballasted and embedded track and transit operations
  • Experience with railroad industry safety standards and material procurement
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles
  • Organizational skills and a strong work ethic
