Overview

Lee Health Heart Institute is looking for experienced Advanced Practice Providers, specifically a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant, to join their Open Heart ICU Team at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. This position focuses on managing critical care patients, particularly those requiring open heart surgery and mechanical circulatory support, in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide critical care management for open heart and mechanical circulatory system patients under institutional protocols.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Pulmonary Critical Care.
  • Manage patient care in a single-site practice, covering 11 ICU beds.
  • Participate in ECMO education partnered with ELSO.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols in patient management.

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience with Cardiac and Critical Care patients
  • Experience with invasive procedures (central lines, arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, chest tubes)
  • Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Graduate from an accredited program
  • Active, unrestricted license in Florida or ability to obtain prior to start
  • Current BLS and ACLS credentials
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
