Job Description

Overview

The Radiation Therapist at Prisma Health is responsible for performing simulations and delivering radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. This role involves maintaining accurate treatment records, ensuring safe and effective patient care, and optimizing workflow to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret and administer prescribed radiation therapy courses.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment according to prescriptions.
  • Perform clinical and CT-based simulations for tumor localization.
  • Fabricate immobilization devices for accurate treatment delivery.
  • Monitor and assess patients during treatment.
  • Provide patient education on care and treatment reactions.
  • Execute quality assurance procedures on simulation and treatment machines.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and initiatives.
  • Support training and oversight of radiation therapy students.

Required skills

  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • ARRT (T) License or Board Eligible.
  • Experience in a progressive radiation oncology department preferred.
  • Knowledge of special procedures like SRS, SBRT, and pediatric anesthesia cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
