Overview

Gooch & Housego Rochester GSO is seeking a Quality Technician for their 2nd shift in Rochester, New York. The role supports the manufacturing process by qualifying in-process production parts and performing necessary inspections as per established protocols, ensuring product quality and compliance in an innovative optical manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional measurements using manual and computer-controlled gauges
  • Conduct optical non-contact inspections using interferrometer and metrology methods
  • Perform visual inspections of optical parts to identify nonconformance
  • Notify production personnel of inspection results and report nonconformance
  • Document inspection results electronically and summarize daily activities
  • Apply flash coating to sample parts using a vacuum coating chamber
  • Collaborate with production to identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities
  • Conduct process compliance audits

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Associates degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • Experience in optical manufacturing or inspection
  • Familiarity with injection molding and medical device manufacture in FDA registered or ISO 13485 certified facilities
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles
  • Proficient with optical inspection equipment (interferrometer, OGP Smart Scope)
  • Skilled in mechanical measurement equipment (calipers, CMM, profilometer)
