Job Description

Overview

The Quality Engineer at United Industries will be responsible for implementing technical and quality systems in a stainless steel tubing mill. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role involves performing failure analysis, resolving customer claims, and overseeing quality documentation relevant to automotive customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform failure analysis on nonconforming materials and communicate findings
  • Resolve customer claims and manufacturing issues
  • Prepare PPAPs, Control Plans, and PFMEAs for automotive customers
  • Participate as an auditor in the Internal Audit Program
  • Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Prepare and report Quality related data and presentations
  • Participate in Quarterly Management Reviews
  • Oversee the APQP process
  • Participate in the TS16949 Surveillance Audit
  • Execute other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Required skills

  • Knowledge of ASME and ASTM Standards related to Stainless Steel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate TS16949 activities
  • Experience with automotive PPAPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and APQP
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Strong problem solving skills including 8D methodology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Minitab software is a plus
  • B.S. degree in a related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment focused on quality assurance
  • Degree in Metallurgy or Material Engineering is a plus
  • Experience in stainless steel tube mill operations is a strong plus
