Overview

The Quality Control Engineer (QCE) at Amazon plays a crucial role in overseeing quality assurance and control for AWS Data Center construction projects. This position ensures all work aligns with AWS's standards for quality, safety, and performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of QAQC processes throughout data center construction projects
  • Review design documents and provide feedback on constructability and quality assurance
  • Develop and maintain quality control plans and inspection checklists
  • Conduct onsite QAQC inspections to ensure compliance with AWS standards
  • Coordinate with third-party Quality Control Agents and Vendors
  • Facilitate regular QC meetings with stakeholders
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators
  • Identify and track quality defects or non-conformances
  • Compile and deliver quality control turnover packages for each project phase
  • Conduct final quality reviews and walkthroughs with key stakeholders
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to end customers on QAQC processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless project execution
  • Stay current with industry best practices and AWS-specific quality standards
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time to project sites

Required skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in quality control or construction management, preferably in data center projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and quality control methodologies
  • Knowledge of industry standards related to construction quality control
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication abilities and experience building strategic relationships
  • Experience in a data center or critical environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of AWS or the cloud computing industry is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
