Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager at Sugaright is responsible for managing quality and food safety systems at the Harrisonburg production facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate directives. This role entails overseeing quality-related testing, handling customer complaints, leading internal audits, and managing certifications such as SQF.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage quality and food safety systems in accordance with corporate directives
  • Perform internal and external audits to support the Quality Management System
  • Oversee microbiological and chemistry-related product testing
  • Lead customer complaint investigations and corrective action execution
  • Produce quality reporting and perform corrective action initiatives
  • Assist in training facility teams for quality-related activities
  • Manage facility regulatory and certification compliance programs
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the plant SQF System
  • Manage internal databases for documentation and testing data

Required skills

  • BS in Microbiology, Food Science or equivalent experience
  • 2 years experience in quality assurance in food manufacturing
  • 5 years experience in quality laboratory measuring for microbiological compliance
  • General knowledge of regulatory and kosher compliance
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • SQF Certification (nonessential)
  • Six Sigma certification at the Green Belt level (nonessential)
