Job Description

Overview

The QC Cell Culture Scientist (Biologist) at Avantor provides technical expertise in cell culture, biocompatibility, and in vitro cytotoxicity testing for silicone materials and their medical device applications. This role is essential for the Quality Control & Validation vertical, supporting product development, compliance, and improvement initiatives within a collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage biological testing activities and lifecycle of experimental samples.
  • Perform complex cytotoxicity and biological testing on various materials.
  • Independently execute and troubleshoot in vitro cell culture methods.
  • Analyze data and prepare technical reports while ensuring compliance with quality procedures.
  • Support product development and validate findings through investigations.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to laboratory personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide scientific support.

Required skills

  • 3+ years of cell culturing and assay experience (AS degree), or 1+ year (BS degree)
  • Experience in analytical, biological, biotechnology, biomedical, or related laboratory environments
  • Proficient in mammalian cell culture techniques and general aseptic practices
  • Familiarity with biological, biochemical, or cell-based assays
  • Experience with data analysis, technical reporting, and laboratory documentation
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and safety procedures for biohazardous materials
  • Computer skills (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of ERP (SAP) and PLM software (Oracle Agile PLM)
  • Strong communication, time-management, critical thinking, and attention to detail skills
