Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a Public Credit Research Analyst for its Public Credit Analysis team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is crucial for making informed investment decisions regarding fixed-income securities within the Regional Bank sector, playing a vital part in the company's growth and success. The position requires collaboration with investment professionals to analyze and assess various credit opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct and communicate fundamental credit research on investment grade and high-yield corporate credits
  • Make buy/sell/hold recommendations for inclusion in the company's General Account
  • Demonstrate expertise in the analysis of regional banks
  • Work closely with the senior bank analyst and portfolio management teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts and credit rating agencies

Required skills

  • 7+ years of investment research experience, with at least 2 years in the regional bank sector
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to analyze and model financial metrics and business strategies
  • Understanding of bank regulation and capital requirements
  • Knowledge of financial markets and products
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and financial databases like Bloomberg
  • MBA or CFA preferred
  • Strong communication skills
