Job Description

Overview

The Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician will conduct VA Compensation and Pension examinations focusing on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and associated psychiatric conditions for adult veterans. This position involves evaluation only, with no treatment or prescribing responsibilities, and requires completing documentation using VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform structured psychiatric interviews and mental status examinations
  • Assess cognitive, behavioral, and psychiatric effects of TBI
  • Differentiate TBI sequelae from PTSD, substance use, and primary psychiatric conditions
  • Review and synthesize collateral records
  • Complete the applicable VA DBQs with clear documentation

Required skills

  • MD or DO with completed Psychiatry residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Active, unrestricted state medical license
  • DEA may be required for credentialing
  • Ability to complete onboarding and background check
