Job Description

Overview

As a Property Field Claims Adjuster at American Family Insurance, you will be responsible for handling homeowner property field claims in the Bemidji, Minnesota area. This primarily field-based role requires spending 80% of your time in direct contact with customers, conducting investigations, on-site inspections, and handling negotiations related to claims.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting involved parties.
  • Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and evaluate damages.
  • Negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide updates on claim status.
  • Interpret and apply policies, leases, and contract coverages for assigned losses.

Required skills

  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
  • Experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims.
  • Knowledge of casualty coverages and claims handling process.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to handle moderate to complex claims.
  • Familiarity with Xactimate is preferred.
