Overview

As a Property Adjuster Specialist at USAA, you will work within defined guidelines to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims. This field-based role involves analyzing coverage and liability, utilizing technology for virtual inspections, and managing a caseload of claims, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage assigned claims caseload of complex damages.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams for claims resolution.
  • Investigate claim damages through research from various sources.
  • Identify coverage concerns and manage Special Investigation Unit referrals.
  • Negotiate complex claims settlements within authority limits.
  • Utilize estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the claims process.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 2 years of relevant property claims adjusting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools.
  • Proficient in residential construction and property claims contracts.
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven analytical, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year and work on catastrophe duty as needed.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days.
