Overview

As a Property Adjuster Specialist for USAA in Colorado Springs, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims. This role emphasizes a virtual-first approach to claims handling while also requiring fieldwork to inspect losses within your designated area. You will be part of a team dedicated to supporting the military community by providing exceptional service and trusted advice.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage assigned complex claims caseload
  • Partner with vendors and business partners for claims resolution
  • Investigate claim damages from various sources
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in claims
  • Review prior loss history and create special investigation unit referrals
  • Negotiate complex claims settlements within authority limits
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the claims process
  • Utilize estimating technology platforms for claims management
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations
  • Work independently on complex problems and guide less experienced colleagues

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of property claims adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools
  • Proficient in residential construction and property claims contracts
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year
  • Maintain insurance adjuster license within 90 days
  • Experience with high-severity and complex claims
