Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking a Property Adjuster Specialist to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims in the Colorado Springs area. The role involves confirming coverage, analyzing liability, and using technology for virtual inspections while maintaining compliance with state regulations. The position also includes potential travel outside the local territory for claims response.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage assigned claims caseload of complex damages
  • Partner with vendors and internal business partners for claims resolution
  • Conduct research to investigate claim damages
  • Identify coverage concerns and determine subrogation potential
  • Negotiate complex claims settlements within authority limits
  • Maintain accurate claim file documentation
  • Utilize estimating technology platforms for claims handling
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations
  • Work independently on solving complex problems
  • Adjust complex claims with attorney involvement

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of property claims adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools
  • Proficient knowledge of residential construction and property claims contracts
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven analytical, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year and work catastrophe duty when necessary
  • Acquisition of insurance adjuster license within 90 days
  • Hands-on experience with high-severity property claims
