Job Description

Overview

As a Property Adjuster Specialist at USAA, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the claims process, while working primarily in a remote environment for eligible candidates.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage assigned claims caseload comprising complex damages.
  • Conduct investigations by researching various sources.
  • Review prior loss history and identify coverage concerns.
  • Negotiate claims settlements within authority limits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of claims throughout the process.
  • Utilize estimating technology platforms to prepare claims estimates.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations.
  • Work independently to solve complex problems.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of property claims adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools
  • Proficient knowledge of residential construction and property claims contracts
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, and communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year and work catastrophe duty if needed
