Overview

The Property Adjuster Specialist at USAA plays a vital role in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling complex property insurance claims. This desk-based position supports the military community and may involve remote work options, provided candidates are located in specific time zones. The adjuster will manage a caseload while ensuring compliance with state regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage assigned claims caseload of complex damages
  • Investigate claim damages through research from various sources
  • Identify coverage concerns and recommend SIU referrals when necessary
  • Negotiate complex claims settlements within authority limits
  • Maintain accurate and thorough claim file documentation
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations as needed
  • Solve complex problems independently and act as a resource for colleagues

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of property claims adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools
  • Proficient in residential construction and property claims contracts
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license
