Overview

The Project Manager (Contract) at UCSB is responsible for overseeing Capital Improvement Projects and major infrastructure upgrades. This role requires strong project management skills to handle the complexities and scopes of various construction projects, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee Capital Improvement Projects
  • Interpret contracts and negotiate changes in the work
  • Hire and manage professional consultants
  • Oversee development of plans and specifications
  • Create budgets and manage expenses
  • Direct work of project support staff
  • Serve as liaison with campus departments
  • Obtain project approvals and permits
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate contractors and ensure compliance with plans

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in project management of capital improvement projects
  • Experience managing new construction and renovation projects
  • Knowledge of business and fiscal analysis related to project management
  • Ability to analyze data and make accurate cost projections
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling software
  • Ability to quickly learn University policies and procedures
