Job Description

Overview

A.O. Hardee and Son, Inc. is seeking a Project Estimator to join their team in Little River, South Carolina. The role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects, analyzing project plans, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure estimates are reflective of current market conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret contract documents including engineering plans and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates using HCSS software.
  • Perform quantity take-off analysis utilizing AGTEK.
  • Solicit and analyze supplier and subcontractor proposals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Attend jobsite walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare preliminary project schedules.
  • Prepare risk assessment analysis.
  • Work in a team environment, assisting and coordinating with other estimators.
  • Ensure that accurate and complete estimates of project are prepared on time.
  • Interface professionally with clients.

Required skills

  • 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil earthwork projects
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills
  • Experience in preparing hard-bid public and private market cost proposals
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • AGTEK experience
  • Auto-CAD and Trimble Business Center knowledge is a plus
  • Active driver's license with clean driving record
