Overview

Metromont LLC is seeking a Project Drafter to join their team in Winchester, Virginia. The role involves designing and preparing plans and scale drawings for complex projects using computer-aided design (CAD) equipment and software. As part of a nearly century-old company, the Project Drafter will work closely with engineers and architects to produce high-quality precast concrete solutions for various structures.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and prepare electronic (CAD) working plans, charts, and scale drawings for complex projects
  • Prepare layouts, charts, and detailed scale drawings from sketches and specifications
  • Review and manipulate electronic files received from consultants and departmental contacts
  • Coordinate drafting work with engineers and architects
  • Revise CAD designs to comply with modified specifications during construction
  • Provide technical guidance to the drafting staff on specifications and CAD file management
  • Identify problems or inconsistencies in plans and specifications
  • Consult with engineers to resolve questions
  • Procure CAD and/or Revit files
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations

Required skills

  • Minimum two years drafting experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Proficiency in creating detailed electronic CAD working plans
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, BeamWiz, TeeWiz, and Revit preferred
  • Ability to follow established technical specifications
  • Adaptability to changes in work schedules and tasks
  • Commitment to safe working behaviors
