Overview

CAN Community Health is seeking a Program Specialist I to join their Education & Prevention Team in Sarasota, Florida. This entry-level position focuses on supporting individuals affected by HIV, Hepatitis C, and STIs through community outreach, health education, and risk reduction counseling.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform HIV/STI/Hepatitis C testing and risk reduction counseling in various settings.
  • Educate clients and community members about Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and link them to relevant programs.
  • Ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA laws and organizational policies.
  • Document testing procedures in electronic medical records and state reporting systems.
  • Develop community partnerships and assist in outreach efforts.
  • Assist in planning and executing testing events and health education initiatives.
  • Represent CAN Community Health at conferences and community events.

Required skills

  • Basic understanding of HIV, prevention, and treatment pathways.
  • Experience in community outreach and health education.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field or relevant coursework.
