Job Description

Overview

The Program Leader role at Think Together involves working part-time with groups of students in Santa Maria, California, providing guidance and support in an educational environment. This position calls for individuals who can serve as positive role models, fostering a safe and nurturing atmosphere that promotes student development and engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a group of 20-25 students in an in-person classroom setting
  • Implement behavior and classroom management strategies
  • Serve as a positive adult role model through appropriate dress, speech, and attitude
  • Create an engaging environment to foster a sense of belonging for students
  • Support students in making positive behavior choices and implement disciplinary measures when necessary
  • Identify student needs and communicate with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide homework assistance and academic enrichment
  • Assist with snack preparation, serving, and cleanup
  • Maintain student safety by managing roll and sign-in/out processes
  • Participate in staff development

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 48 semester/60 quarter units or passing a pre-employment test (district-specific)
  • Ability to speak and write Standard English appropriately
  • Criminal background check clearance via Live Scan
  • Negative TB test dated within the last 3 years
  • At least six months experience working with groups of students
  • Advanced Math and English skills (K-8)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
