Job Description

Overview

The Program Leader at Think Together is a part-time role based in Santa Maria, California, responsible for guiding and mentoring students in an in-person educational setting. This position requires establishing a safe and nurturing environment to support student growth while maintaining high standards of behavior and safety based on the organization's core agreements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a group of 20-25 students in an educational setting.
  • Act as a positive adult role model for children.
  • Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging.
  • Support positive behavior choices and implement disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Identify student needs and communicate with relevant stakeholders (Site Program Manager, teachers, parents).
  • Provide homework assistance and academic enrichment.
  • Assist with daily snack preparation, serving, and cleanup.
  • Maintain student safety through roll call and monitoring sign-in/sign-outs.
  • Participate in staff development.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 48 semester/60 quarter units or passing a pre-employment test (district-specific).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Standard English.
  • Successful completion of background checks (Live Scan) and TB test.
  • At least six months experience working with groups of students.
  • Advanced Math and English skills (K-8).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual skills preferred, especially in Spanish.
