Overview

The Production Helper role at Metalcraft of Mayville in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, involves assisting with the production process in a fabrication shop. Responsibilities include de-nesting laser cut parts, performing metal finishing, and supporting operators in setups and operations on laser machines.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Operator with setups and operations on Mazak and Mitsubishi CO2 Lasers
  • Use grinders and sanders to improve quality on parts
  • De-nesting of laser cut parts and removing laser oxide from parts
  • Cross train across the Laser department
  • Properly receive and store steel
  • Perform general housekeeping of department
  • Make routine decisions and use problem solving for basic manufacturing issues
  • Report and document material, production, and quality control issues
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards
  • Complete other assigned tasks

Required skills

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks
  • Basic understanding of computers and related functions
  • Strong communication skills in verbal and written formats
  • Experience with hand tools in a metalworking environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operational procedures
  • Background in metal grinding, forming, and basic fabrication
  • Competence in basic dimensional measuring and shop math
