Job Description

Overview

The Production Helper role at Metalcraft of Mayville is focused on assisting in the de-nesting and metal finishing of laser-cut parts in a Just-in-time fabrication shop. This position requires collaboration with operators and may involve cross-training across different areas of the Laser department.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Operator with setups and operations on Mazak and Mitsubishi CO2 Lasers
  • Use grinders and sanders to improve quality on parts
  • De-nest laser cut parts and remove laser oxide from parts
  • Cross-train across the Laser department
  • Properly receive and store steel
  • Perform general housekeeping of the department
  • Meet time standards and quality expectations
  • Make routine decisions to resolve basic manufacturing issues
  • Report and document material, production, and quality control issues
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks
  • Basic understanding of computers relevant to the job
  • Team collaboration skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Safe handling of hand tools in a metal environment
  • Basic understanding of blueprints and maintenance instructions
  • Metal grinding, forming, and basic fabrication experience
  • Competence in basic dimensional measuring
  • Basic shop math skills
