Overview

Job Description Leverage advanced knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering principles to assist in the product development and launch of laminate products for the Companys manufactured automotive interiors. Specific duties include: Perform technical review of customer requirements, in terms of alignment with automotive laminate specifications and determine technical feasibility and capability. Engage with customers to determine optimal inspection, packaging and testing requirements for new automotive products. Perform risk analysis to determine issues that could cause bad quality, high scrap, or low productivity for automotive components and develop counter measures and track success via metrics throughout product launches. Develop technical specifications for automotive-related material properties based on statistical analysis and handle negotiations with customers. Attend product validation trials at customers to understand the interaction between the product and customers molding application and drive subsequent engineering trials and improvement activities. Identify and lead VA-VE activities intended to reduce material/BOM costs, improve scrap rates and productivity. Drive testing requirements based on assessment of Tire and OEMs requirements for automotive laminate products and engineering activities. Work on engineering automotive laminate change projects, specific to technical activities for the change. Communicate with relevant stakeholders, such as department managers, engineers, and supervisors, regarding the new industrial engineering design, requirements, and/or issues associated with each launch and collaborate to address them. Assist management with establishing best industrial and manufacturing design requirements and/or engineering issues for the Companys laminate products. May telecommute 25% of the workweek from any U.S. location. 25% domestic and/or international travel as needed to visit various unanticipated client sites. Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience developing, testing, and modifying manufactured products and materials in accordance with industry standards. Experience must include all of the following: 5 years of experience implementing continuous improvement methods throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, including reducing material/BOM SPcosts, increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness, and ensuring quality and safety. 5 years of experience with high complexity pre-production orders ensuring quality, planning, feedback loop (sample feedback), and recovery from manufacturing issues. 5 years of experience completing and documenting tasks for phase gate review process, which must include performing product analysis, developing operator work instructions, and post-launch review. 4 years of experience determining optimal packaging and testing requirements for new products while continuously updating requirements as new issues or parameters arose. In the alternative, will also accept a Masters degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field plus three (3) years of professional experience developing, testing, and modifying manufactured products and materials in accordance with industry standards. Experience must include all of the following, which may be gained before, during, or after completion of the advanced degree: 3 years of experience implementing continuous improvement methods throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, including reducing material/BOM SPcosts, increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness, and ensuring quality and safety. 3 years of experience with high complexity pre-production orders ensuring quality, planning, feedback loop (sample feedback), and recovery from manufacturing issues. 3 years of experience completing and documenting tasks for
