Overview

The Pro-Shop Assistant at the Town of Palm Beach is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a golf pro-shop, which includes merchandise management, customer service, and support for golf outings and events. This role demands flexibility in scheduling and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent service to golfers and maintaining the pro-shop's organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the golf pro-shop
  • Assist with outing coordination and event management
  • Provide course information to the public
  • Operate a computerized POS system for checking in golfers and collecting fees
  • Book tee times and lessons in person and over the phone
  • Ensure compliance with golf course rules and regulations
  • Perform custodial duties to maintain a neat pro-shop
  • Conduct inventory management and assist with merchandising
  • Train new employees and coordinate bookings with partner hotels
  • Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of senior management
  • Occasionally assist with golf course maintenance and ranger duties

Required skills

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of golf and related terminology
  • Two years of experience in a customer service role
  • Experience in golf operations preferred
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office applications
  • Ability to operate POS systems and related computer programs
  • General knowledge of golf course maintenance and operations
  • Effective communication skills in person and over the phone
  • Ability to operate utility vehicles and golf carts
  • Strong public and employee relations skills
