Overview

The PRN Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health Systems is tasked with delivering patient care in critical care settings, focusing on respiratory treatment and patient education. This role not only requires expertise in medication administration and ventilator management but also emphasizes collaboration and communication within the healthcare team.

Key responsibilities

  • Administers aerosolized medication and manages ventilators
  • Performs patient assessments for therapy and collaborates on care planning
  • Educates patients and families about respiratory care
  • Mentors and precepts new employees and students
  • Promotes patient safety and quality care initiatives
  • Completes documentation and electronic orders accurately
  • Provides support in invasive and non-invasive procedures

Required skills

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Familiarity with computer systems and databases
