Job Description

Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join their Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems organization in Andover, Massachusetts. This hybrid role involves a mix of systems and software engineering to design and develop communication systems for air and missile defense, specifically working with the Patriot Communications System.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on work in development and test labs with communications hardware.
  • Design and optimize IP communications network architectures for the Patriot system.
  • Develop configurations for individual communications devices across various hardware.
  • Create orchestration and automation solutions for software management of the communications system.
  • Develop software applications in Python.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to Patriot Communication Systems worldwide.
  • Mentor new team members and foster knowledge sharing.
  • Provide technical leadership to a small team focused on communication software development.

Required skills

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Software application development using Python or similar languages
  • Experience in system design and development for Patriot Program or similar
  • Voice over IP (VoIP) communication design and integration experience
  • Certifications in IP networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) preferred
  • Cyber secure communications design and integration experience
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Automated test development experience for hardware and software
