Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineer for their Woodland Hills, CA location. The role involves leading technical projects, developing software using C/C++, and supporting digital transformation initiatives within the Engineering and Sciences organization, focusing on innovation and modern methodologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for junior software engineers
  • Develop software utilizing C/C++ to modernize a research codebase
  • Create software infrastructure to support CI/CD and MLOps
  • Implement software systems and architectures for modularity and reliability
  • Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with Software Leads and Architects on system capabilities

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with relevant experience
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance
  • Experience working in C/C++
  • Familiarity with modern C++ standards (C++ 17 and beyond)
  • Ability to analyze system requirements
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Git or software configuration management tools
