Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Principal RF Data Link Engineer to join their team in Tucson, Arizona. The role focuses on designing and testing wireless communication and data link systems to support a range of tactical missile programs, contributing to advancements in RF data link technologies for both space-based and terrestrial applications.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and evaluate concept and performance trade studies and link budget analyses.
  • Conduct hardware and software communication architecture trade studies.
  • Develop, prototype, and test data link models and signal processing algorithms.
  • Test, verify, and validate communication and signal processing algorithm requirements.
  • Participate in project design reviews and briefings to internal leadership and external customers.

Required skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Programming and simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent
  • Experience in communication theory, digital signal processing, RF and electromagnetic theory
  • Hands-on experience with waveform simulations (PSK, FSK, OFDM, QAM)
  • Knowledge of RF impairments, link budget, and propagation modeling
  • Strong understanding of RF transceiver and front-end design
  • Familiarity with antenna design parameters
  • Experience with fixed-point algorithm simulations for VHDL verification
