Overview

As a Principal R&D Engineer at Hoerbiger, you will shape the future of advanced mechanical solutions by transforming scientific insights into high-performance products. You will lead R&D projects focusing on tribology-based technologies, innovate product development, and collaborate across various teams to enhance technology leadership and operational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead R&D projects to develop innovative products and technologies aligned with strategic goals.
  • Explore emerging technologies through structured research and experimental validation.
  • Design robust solutions with a focus on performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Plan and execute testing, including designing test programs and performing life and validation testing.
  • Analyze data and solve problems using simulation, experimental results, and root-cause methodologies.
  • Act as technical lead by managing risks, making engineering decisions, and mentoring colleagues.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • At least five years of R&D and industrial experience in product development
  • 3D printing experience preferred
  • Knowledge in tribology from education or hands-on application
  • Analytical thinking to interpret complex data
  • Program and Project Management skills for structured planning and execution
  • Collaboration skills to work across manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical topics clearly
