Job Description

Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Engineer - Fuze & Initiation Systems in Tucson, Arizona, to develop advanced technologies and systems integration for fuzing, ignition, and safety devices in missile systems and space vehicles. The role involves close collaboration with customers and stakeholders to identify needs and resolve engineering problems while ensuring technical rigor in all deliverables.

Key responsibilities

  • Apply or develop advanced technologies for fuzing and initiation systems integration
  • Support the Systems Safety Engineering Organization
  • Interface with customers to identify user needs and resolve engineering issues
  • Develop initial fuze and initiation systems architectures and designs
  • Design, analyze, test, and evaluate fuze and initiation systems
  • Prepare Statements of Work (SOWs) and Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS)
  • Ensure technical rigor of all deliverables and support contract negotiations
  • Travel periodically to government and subcontractor facilities

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience in electronic circuit design or safe and arm device development
  • Project management skills
  • Active U.S. government issued security clearance
  • Experience in fuzing and initiation systems design and testing
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-1901, MIL-STD-464
  • Electronics reliability assessments including stress analysis and thermal assessment
  • Technical writing skills for design requirements and technical presentations
