Overview

The Principal Engineer (Director IC) role at Fannie Mae focuses on the Exchange Platform, which involves APIs, files, AI protocols, and other technologies. You will leverage your expertise to design, develop, test, and maintain essential technical solutions that support housing finance and expand access to homeownership and affordable rental housing.

Key responsibilities

  • Determine the needs of customer groups across multiple projects and resolve conflicting needs.
  • Design and develop technical solutions while leading matrixed teams.
  • Oversee maintenance of existing technical solutions.
  • Apply expertise in a process-driven approach to solution design.

Required skills

  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in determining operating errors and corrective actions
  • Experienced in product development and management
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage and engage stakeholders and customers
  • Programming skills in Java and Python (object-oriented)
  • Proficient in SQL and Excel
  • Experience using JIRA
  • Familiar with AWS Developer tools such as CodeBuild and CodePipeline
  • Deep understanding of API lifecycle and related principles
