Overview

Southwest Research Institute is seeking a Principal Computer Scientist/Engineer to develop and advance the MoSAIC software platform, based on LabVIEW, for automated R&D testing of various electro-mechanical systems. The role involves collaboration with a team of experts to deliver integrated solutions, streamline operations, and enhance testing capabilities for a diverse range of systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and support LabVIEW-based applications for R&D testing environments
  • Gather user requirements and refine software designs within time and cost constraints
  • Perform software modifications, enhancements, and technical assessments
  • Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot software, instrumentation hardware, and associated systems
  • Engage in hands-on troubleshooting and fieldwork
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Set standards for software design and coding practices

Required skills

  • LabVIEW development expertise
  • NI Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) knowledge
  • Experience with NI hardware such as PXI and CompactRIO
  • Object-oriented programming skills
