Overview

As a Principal Applied Scientist in the AWS Marketplace & Partner Services team, you will lead AI-driven initiatives that enhance AWS's revenue growth by developing the next generation of search, recommendation, and agentic systems. Your role involves owning technical strategy, guiding peers in scientific excellence, and bridging the gap between theoretical innovations and practical solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Define direction for next-generation recommendation systems including deep personalization and agentic architecture
  • Lead innovations in information retrieval and multi-objective ranking
  • Architect and implement agentic AI systems for complex workflows
  • Bridge theoretical innovations with practical solutions
  • Mentor and guide applied scientists to maintain high technical standards
  • Contribute to the scientific community through patents and publications

Required skills

  • 5+ years of practical experience applying machine learning
  • Expertise in predictive modeling and analysis
  • Programming skills in Java, C++, Python or related languages
  • Experience in machine learning, statistics, deep learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Experience in leading and developing junior scientists
  • Record of creating novel algorithms and peer-reviewed contributions
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
