Overview

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join their team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Cookeville, TN. The role involves providing comprehensive healthcare services to veterans, collaborating with a team to ensure quality patient care. Valor operates numerous VA clinics, focusing on tailored medical services to meet the needs of local veterans.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat veterans under the direction of a supervising physician
  • Examine patients for symptoms of disorders and implement management plans
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests including laboratory tests and x-rays
  • Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and activity programs
  • Counsel patients on prescription medication use and assess mental health issues
  • Complete clinical reminders and maintain accurate medical records
  • Comply with all VA guidelines and documentation requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service to veterans and clinic visitors
  • Participate in clinic outreach events to support enrollment initiatives

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited physician assistant program
  • Minimum five years of combined academic and healthcare experience
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support and ACLS
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong computer skills
  • Energetic demeanor and strong service mentality
