Job Description

Overview

The Prevention Specialist at Oasis Center will provide prevention services to immigrant and refugee youth and their families as part of the International Teen Outreach Program. The role involves coordinating educational and support activities at two Metro Nashville Public Middle and/or High Schools, engaging with community partners, and ensuring effective service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate service-learning and prevention group services for youth from international descent
  • Facilitate college access activities and workshops
  • Co-lead special summer programming and youth leadership group activities
  • Engage with school and community partners for programming coordination
  • Provide intake and assessment services to referred youth and families
  • Facilitate prevention group sessions and provide outreach services
  • Document participant interactions and maintain orderly client files
  • Ensure timely record-keeping and prepare for monitoring visits
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers and interns as needed

Required skills

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Communication skills in oral and written form
  • Knowledge of community and agency resources
  • Ability to organize multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience in training and group facilitation
  • Knowledge of adolescent and family development principles
  • Understanding of crisis intervention and group work principles
  • Familiarity with cultural diversity sensitivity in curriculum development
